About Us

Our Values

We believe the Islamic Scholar is the beating heart of our neighbourhood. As such, it is our collective responsibility to aid these scholars in their pursuit of knowledge, for they hold the key to enlightenment of our community.

Our Mission

We're striving to cultivate North America’s largest community of Islamic Scholars in Toronto.

Our Impact

We are committed to establishing the Scholars Waqf, aiming to create a lasting impact through scholarships for Islamic studies students, research grants for Islamic Scholars, and financial support for Islamic  institutions of higher learning.

Why We Started This Foundation

Hussein’s return was a huge blow not just for him but for our whole community in Toronto. We lost a budding Islamic Scholar who could have greatly enriched our spiritual life. His story highlights the urgent need for you to support our aspiring Scholars.

Hussein and his 3 friends Khalid, Mohammed and Abdullah had big dreams: to dive deep into advanced Islamic studies. Hussein started his journey in Toronto, spending several years soaking up knowledge. His mentors saw his potential and advised him to continue his education in Turkey under the guidance of the Shayukh.

Struggle

Just before Hussein and his friends were set to leave, Turkey threw a wrench in the works by tightening their student visa rules, which meant they needed to come up with a lot of money fast. If the new rules were not met, they would be forced to leave and re-enter Turkey every three months, which was exhausting and just didn’t make sense.

Khalid’s family stepped up. They pulled together their resources and gave him the financial support he needed to meet the visa requirements. This huge sacrifice allowed Khalid to focus on his studies without the headache of constant border crossings.

Mohammed, on the other hand, kept up with the border hopping, draining his energy and focus, but he’s still going. Abdullah moved his studies to Egypt, finding a better environment there.

But Hussein? He had to come back to Canada. The visa hassle was just too much, and he missed out on the chance to study under the Masters in Turkey.

Hussein’s loss is our loss.

Why This Matters

But here’s the deal: it’s folks like you who really get it. You understand how vital it is to nurture Scholars for our community. You know that deep Islamic understanding comes from someone who has spent a lifetime studying the religion. Our community thrives when we have these wise individuals guiding us.

This is why we need a foundation to provide scholarships for students like Hussein, grants for Scholars, and funding for local Islamic studies programs.

With your support, students like Hussein won’t have to give up on their dreams. You have the power to turn these dedicated students into future Scholars. Step up, lend a hand, and be part of our community.
