After earning a degree in Biomedical and Electrical Engineering from Carleton University, Muhammad turned his focus to his Deen, committing over 15 years to Islamic studies under the guidance of respected scholars. His educational journey includes Quranic sciences, Hadith, Fiqh, Aqeedah, Arabic language, and more. He completed his memorization of the Qur’an in 2013 and went on to receive Ijazahs in Qira’at Hafs ‘an ‘Asim and other recitations.
Currently, he’s studying the ten Qira’at under qualified teachers to preserve and accurately transmit the recitation of the Qur’an.
He is also focused on Hadith studies, specializing in Hadith classification, narrator biographies, and how Hadith connects to legal rulings. Alongside that, he is studying Comparative Fiqh and Usul al-Fiqh with a focus on how Islamic rulings are derived and applied in real life.
His passion for Islamic knowledge is matched by his dedication to service. As the founder of Quran Taught (Instagram handle @quran.taught) and a long-time Taraweeh leader, he’s already made a meaningful impact through teaching, mentoring, and community programming. He continues to sharpen his understanding through advanced Arabic and Fiqh courses in Ottawa and online.
His vision is to make Islamic education accessible, engaging, and rooted in tradition for Muslims across Canada. By combining deep scholarship with practical teaching, he hopes to develop classes and programs in Qira’at, Fiqh, and Hadith for youth, families, and future educators. He wants to give people not just information, but understanding that helps them live Islam confidently in a modern world.
Ultimately, he aims to preserve the Prophetic legacy by ensuring that sacred knowledge is passed on with care, clarity, and purpose, serving as a resource for generations to come.
Help an aspiring Islamic Scholar.
If we believe the Islamic Scholars are the beating heart of our community, then we must nurture the growth of the Scholars Development Waqf to foster the advancement of Islamic scholars in Toronto and Canada.
