Student Spotlight

Tariq Usman Munir

After completing his undergraduate degree in Business and Economics from York University, Tariq felt a deeper calling, one rooted in faith and responsibility. For over a decade, he’s pursued Islamic knowledge through rigorous independent study and with esteemed teachers, covering coretexts in Arabic, Aqida, Hanafi Fiqh, Usul al-Fiqh, and more. Now, as a full-time student in Dar al-Mustafa’s second-year Shariah program in Tarim, Yemen, he’s laying the foundation to become a person of knowledge with a strong focus on da’wah and community engagement.

His goal isn’t simply to learn for himself, it’s to fulfill the fard kifayah, the communal obligation of preserving, embodying, and passing on sacred knowledge. He believes that true change starts with clarity, and clarity begins with individuals who understand both the tradition and the reality of modern life.

Upon returning to Canada, his vision is clear: build educational initiatives that help Muslims, especially youth, strengthen their connection to Allah through accessible, relevant, and authentic scholarship. From answering everyday questions to developing balanced Islamic programs in a Western context, he hopes to become a trusted voice, bridging gaps and guiding hearts back to the core of our deen.

By supporting his journey, you’re investing in someone who will serve, uplift, and preserve the faith for generations to come.
